The ThermoWorks Thermapen Mk 4 is a fantastic device that allows you to monitor your temperature whilst cooking and baking fabulous food.

I have a lime green Thermapen (aka the “Frog”) and is stored in the top utensil draw.  It is a great piece of equipment to have when baking and cooking as it allows you to quickly check the internal temperature of the food you are making.

For example, cooking chicken can be tricky.  Under cooking chicken can be dangerous and could result in serious sickness, and over cooking chicken can result in a rubbery disaster. Enter, the Thermapen Mk 4, the latest version of this product line from ThermoWorks.   Get your chicken to an internal temperature (IT) to exactly 165˚F (74˚C) to have the perfect, moist chicken.

The Thermapen comes in ten different colours including pink, blue, orange and yellow.  Having dropped this on the floor a couple of times, I know first-hand that the build quality is very good, as it doesn’t even scratch!  Simple AAA batteries are included with in the purchase and has a 3,000-hour battery life. You will get an accurate internal temperature reading in under 3 seconds, now that’s incredible.

Here are extra specifications for you:
  • Patented auto-rotating display
  • Use in either hand
  • Motion-sensing sleep & wake mode
  • Intelligent backlight
  • Waterproof to IP67
  • 3,000 hour battery life (AAA Battery)
  • 2-3 second readings!
  • High accuracy to ±0.7°F (±0.4°C)
  • 10 colors
  • Display temps in °C or °F
