Savoury Scones

​These savoury scones have a wide variety of flavours and ingredients, making it the perfect savoury snack or lunch box filler!

Ingredients
  • 4 cups self-raising flour
  • pinch of salt
  • cracked pepper, to season
  • 1⁄2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 110g unsalted butter, softened
  • 180g ham, diced
  • 5 spring onions, finely chopped
  • 1⁄2 red capsicum, diced
  • 1⁄2 cup spinach, finely chopped
  • 1 3⁄4 cups cheese, grated
  • 1 1⁄2 cups milk

​Brushing:
  • 1⁄4 cup milk
  • 1⁄4 cup cheese
 Method 
Preheat
the oven to 180 ̊C. Line a tray with baking
paper.

Sift the flour into a large bowl.

Stir in the salt, cracked pepper and cayenne pepper.

Add the butter and rub between fingers until the
mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

Add the ham, spring onions, capsicum, spinach and
cheese.

Add the milk and stir until just combined.

Place the dough onto the tray and form it into a flat round circle.

Cut the dough into 8 even circles using a round
cookie cutter.

Brush the tops of the scones with milk.

Sprinkle the cheese on top.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Serve warm with butter.
