This classic apple crumble is the perfect winter dessert, with its golden crumble and stewed apples! This recipe has been passed down to me by my 90-year-old grandmother. I have made it many times before and it’s always a show stopper!

Ingredients

·    1 cup rolled oats
·    1 cup plain flour
·    1 tsp ground cinnamon
·    1/2 cup brown sugar
·    820 g diced apples
·    50 g softened butter
Method

Preheat the oven to 180˚C and get out an oven-proof bowl.

Place the diced apples into the oven-proof bowl. Note: other fruits work as well, e.g. peaches.

Combine the rolled oats, flour, cinnamon, brown sugar, and butter in a separate bowl. Then rub the mixture between your fingers, until it resembles bread crumbs.

Scatter the crumble evenly on top of the apples.

Place into the oven for 45 minutes.

Serve warm with cream, custard or ice cream.

Happy Baking!
